Privacy Policy
Unfried is a learning app operated by Onyeka Nwamba in the United Kingdom. This policy explains what information the app and its website use, why it is needed, and the choices available to you.
Information we use
- Account information: email address, sign-in provider identifier, display name, topic interests and a privately stored date of birth.
- Learning activity: session choices, attempts, written or spoken explanations, recordings, transcripts, feedback, scores, Brain Points and streaks.
- Public profile information: your chosen display name, rank and Brain Points may appear on daily and all-time leaderboards. Your email and birthday do not.
- Technical information: device, app and network details needed for security, authentication, troubleshooting and service logs. The app also stores login credentials securely on your device and uses local preferences and notifications.
- Support information: messages and attachments you choose to send when asking for help or reporting a leaderboard name.
How we use it
We use this information to create and secure accounts, deliver the daily challenge, process explanations, return feedback and scores, maintain progress and leaderboards, prevent abuse, answer support requests and improve reliability.
Before an explanation is sent for external transcription or scoring, the app asks for your permission. You can withdraw that permission in Settings. Withdrawal stops future processing but cannot undo processing that already occurred.
Services that process information
- Supabase: account authentication, database, private file storage and backend functions.
- OpenAI: transcription and evaluation of explanations when you have allowed it.
- Resend: account confirmation and password-reset email delivery.
- Apple and Google: optional account sign-in when you choose either provider.
- Vercel: hosting for the public Unfried website and its basic service logs.
These providers may process information in countries outside your own. We use provider terms and safeguards intended to protect information during those transfers. We do not sell personal information and do not use advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs.
Recordings and automated feedback
Voice recordings are private and used to produce a transcript and feedback. Typed explanations are processed for the same purpose. Feedback and scores are automated, may be imperfect, and do not make legal or similarly significant decisions about you. Avoid including information you do not want processed in an explanation.
Retention and deletion
Account information, progress, explanations, transcripts and feedback are generally kept while your account is active so the service can preserve your history. Recordings may be retained while needed to process or recover an attempt. Security, delivery and backup records may remain for limited periods controlled by the relevant provider.
You can delete your account inside Unfried. This removes the account and associated active app data, including owned recordings, subject to limited provider security logs, backups and legal obligations. You may also contact us if you cannot access the app.
Age
Unfried is intended for people aged 14 or older. We store your birthday privately so age rules can be applied; it is not displayed publicly. If the law where you live requires a parent or guardian to approve your use at your age, use Unfried only with that approval. A parent or guardian may contact us about a young person’s information.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, receive a copy of information, or withdraw consent. Contact us to make a request. We may need to verify that the account belongs to you. UK users may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Changes
We will update this page when the service or its data practices materially change and will revise the effective date above. Material changes may also be explained in the app.
